Get Involved: Be a Direct-Service Volunteer
Thank you for your interest in volunteering or interning with the Center Against Family Violence (CAFV).

CAFV provides a variety of services to victims of domestic violence and we depend on people like you to reach out to help those who are in need of services.

Volunteers work in all areas of CAFV: answering the 24-hour crisis line, mentoring children, facilitating support or accountability groups, assisting with shelter intake, presenting educational programs, and accompanying clients to court.

Because of the nature of our work, we demand the highest quality volunteers. Volunteering with CAFV is not for everyone. It is often difficult both emotionally and physically. Our volunteer training is intensive; it will give you the tools to begin understanding this vast social problem and thus begin your time at our facility.

In spite of the demanding work, your experience will have many rewards: helping a child read, supporting victims as they begin to understand that relationships are suppose to be based on equality, or making sure our judicial system is fair to victims’ of violence.

Get Involved: Be a Nondirect-Service Volunteer

If you feel that working hands-on with victims of family violence would be too difficult for you, please consider the following options that are available to you.

Speakers Bureau

CAFV receives many requests for presentations in the community. Volunteers participating with the Speakers Bureau will faciliatate presentations on the Dyanamics of Domestic Violence, CAFV Services and Programs, and Teen and Relationship Violence. If you want to make a difference in preventing family or intimate partner violence, this may be the volunteer experience you want. Speakers Bureau also participate as CAFV respresentives at community health fairs.

Times vary for this area; some presentations will be daytime engagements.

Clerical Aid

CAFV always needs support with clerical work at many of our locations. You can assist in office work, filing, answering phone calls, and working on special projects. Clerical aids are a vital part in assisting our programs' efficiency.

Work as a clerical aid is needed Monday-Friday from 8 am-5 pm.

Ritzy Raggs Resale Clerk

This is a fun way to participate as a volunteer for our organization. Ritzy Raggs is almost completely run by volunteers who receive dontations, sort, stock, and provide customer service to patrons of the store. This store isn't your typical thrift shop, we have consignments and also are a recipient of floor model and discontinued items from Ashley Furniture Homestore.

Click here for an Application and then take it in to Ritzy Raggs to begin volunteering!

The store is open Monday-Friday
